For Berlanti, The Powerpuff Girls’ mature live-action reboot, which he is doing, fits into the mold of The CW. She has helped develop a number of female superhero properties for the network, such as Batwoman and The Great Girl, and was also involved in the Riverdale grown-up Archie Comics, also in The CW.

Created by Craig McKearn, The Powerpuff Girls was about three kindergarten-aged superpowered girls – Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, living in the fictional major US city of Townsville with their scientific father and producer Professor Utonium.

Eutonium was set to make a “perfect little girl” with a mixture of “sugar, spices and everything good”, but ended up with three girls after spreading “Chemical X” into the mix. His powers come from chemical X and his personality takes after compounds: bubbles (sugar), buttercups (spices), and blossoms (all good).
