Umar Khalid is the alumni of Jawahar Lal University who has been thrown under Police custody for 10 days on Monday by Delhi court. He was allegedly sent to police custody for being accused in a conspiracy behind the February riots in North-East Delhi. Khalid’s lawyer Trideep Pais said to the court that his client Umar Khalid was not present in Delhi from 23rd to 26th February during the riots in the district.
He also said that he was opposing CAA and was not abashed by it. He also said that still, police can’t find evidence against him that he was involved to incite the riot.
Who is Umar Khalid?
Umar Khalid was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Act after the inquiry of nearly 11 hours. He is being alleged to be one of the masterminds of the riots according to the unknown senior Police officer. He is the main conspirator of the riots according to them.
According to the reports, the police officers are supposed to file a charge sheet against them. He was presented in the court on Monday.
